Apple Phases out the Use of UDIDs, So Does inneractive! New iOS SDK Now Live!

By: Hillel Fuld (@hilzfuld)

Good news, privacy lovers of the world. We just released an updated iOS SDK that no longer collects the UDID from users and replaces it with a hashed MAC Address. That means our targeting capabilities are as advanced as ever as is our focus on user privacy!

While the UDID of iOS devices has been determined to not pose any real privacy threats, the mobile industry including Apple itself has been taking active steps to oust the use of UDIDs to target users.

With the release of iOS 5, Apple has notified developers via its updated documentation, that it will be phasing out the use of UDIDs in all of its iOS devices including iPhone and iPad.

While such a move has major ramifications for precise targeting abilities, especially in the world of mobile advertising, inneractive sees privacy as its guiding light and is therefore removing the use of UDIDs in its iOS SDK.

The new SDK, which can be downloaded from the inneractive console (sign up here) is in line with inneractive’s full cross-platform SDK portfolio. Its features include one single line of code, the market’s most seamless integration, and a comprehensive list of monetization verticals. These include display advertising, rich media, hyper-local ads, virtual currency, and in-app search abilities.

You can sign up for inneractive and download the new SDK by visiting http://inner-active.com/. All existing inneractive developers are strongly encouraged to integrate this new SDK.
